| Cathy Sorbo: Ahead of the curve on good changes
Marlowe Harris, one of the P-I real estate bloggers, sent me a blurb about something new to try on New Year's Day. It involves wearing a tacky tracksuit and donning a bad wig. There is a meet-up at Green Lake, and the track-suited, wig-wearing mob enjoys a nice walk around the lake en masse. Or there's always the Polar Bear Dip, whereby one relaxes in the 44-degree waters of the Puget Sound with others. I opted for the less public and much warmer option, the New Year's Resolution. This year, I have two. The first one is to delete, without guilt, any self-esteem themed e-mails, especially if it is required that I forward it to all my female friends in order for a wish to come true. Throughout the year I received this type of egospam, and last month I received an e-mail that had an especially massive list of "feel good about yourself no matter what" missives.
Nokia launches N96, N78 media phones
Nokia this morning made an aggressive start to its launch at Mobile World Congress through two key Nseries smartphones. The N96 (pictured) is Nokia's long-anticipated sequel to the N95 8GB and doubles its built-in storage to 16GB; with a microSDHC slot and an 8GB card (including a new card of Nokia's own), the device can hold up to 24GB data by itself. Several design changes also improve its handling of media playback: in addition to a built-in kickstand for long video playback, the N96 adds a native 3.5mm headphone jack, simulated 3D sound speakers, and a DVB-H tuner for receiving over-the-air digital TV in Europe. An electronic programming guide allows the handset to record up to 40 hours of video. Like the N95, the updated phone sports a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, and GPS with a data assist mode; however, a new button layout and a new look (borrowed from the N81) prep the device for eventual support for the N-Gage gaming service.

Immortalized Behind The Wheel
JANUARY 2--Turns out the Oregon drunk driver busted with an astounding .55 blood alcohol content has previously spent time in the spotlight. And by spotlight we mean a Brooks & Dunn video in which she gyrates while wearing cutoff shorts and snakeskin boots. Meagan Harper, 30, was discovered last month passed out in a car parked outside a pizza place and charged with drunk driving. Harper, who has several prior DUI busts, is being held in the Clackamas County jail on $50,000 bail. Years before she became famous for her alcohol intake, Harper starred in the video for "Rock My World (Little County Girl)," a single from the 1993 Brooks & Dunn album "Hard Workin' Man." In the 3:44 video, which was shot near Portland and can be viewed below, a teenage Harper is first seen behind the wheel of a T-top Camaro.
