C.U. Republicans Call for New Gun Policy
In the wake of last week's tragedy at Northern Illinois University and last April's massacre at Virginia Tech, the seemingly endless series of school shootings has incited debate over the safety of college communities across the country. Yesterday, the Cornell College Republicans placed about 20 signs on the Arts Quad that publicized their stance on the increasingly polarizing issue of the concealed carry of weapons. They have joined the approximately 12,000 students nationwide who are part of a grassroots effort that is advocating for concealed weapons license holders to be able to carry their weapons on campuses. Although prevalent on the Arts Quad during the morning hours, the removal of many of the signs by the afternoon conveyed a sense of disapproval from some members of the Cornell community who support the University's “gun-free zone" policy.
Photo finish as Kodak unloads stake in film
Eastman Kodak Co has transferred its entire stake in Lucky Film Co Ltd, China's largest maker of photographic film, to end the two companies' four-year partnership. Guangzhou Chengxin Venture and Investment Co took over the 20-percent stake, or 68.4 million shares, for US$37 million and then transferred a five-percent stake in Lucky to an investment company named Hongyu for 67 million yuan (US$9.3 million), Lucky said in a statement to Shanghai Stock Exchange yesterday. Lucky's parent held a 43.16-percent stake after the transfer, the statement said. The company's share price plunged 4.98 percent to 14.68 yuan yesterday while the Shanghai Composite Index lost 1.43 percent to 4,320.77. Kodak invested US$100 million in Lucky in October 2003 believing that big potential existed in the film market in China.
Extra! UIdaho Student Found Shot to Death
I had avoided doing so because I had heard getting into the show required great dedication and frankly, I didn't think i had the time. I have since purchased the first three seasons, having watched the first two seasons in less than two weeks time. I am half way through the 3rd season and not looking back. My question for the forum: do you watch this show? Do you find it as thrilling, exciting and thought provoking as I do? Jack Bauer for president '08? I really need to know if I am alone with this as my sleep pattern has been significantly altered since becoming a "24 freak"?! Also, I figured this show may be popular with the HBO crowd so advice from you regulars is much appreciated! JimmyMAC .

Theatre of dreams pauses to relive a nightmare
After all the dark threats about what should be done to Manchester City supporters who were bound not to keep quiet during the Munich minute's silence, 3,000 turned up, crammed into the far corner of the East Stand and did themselves proud. Pipers led the two teams out, United wearing their 1950s-throwback kit, City a sponsorless version of theirs, the managers laid wreaths in the centre circle, and then the loudest sound came from City fans shushing one another to honour the remembrance. .
