Xbox360 Game console: The N-Gen gaming console!

Gaming online is no less than an addiction for today's youth. Those who love it just don't care about the rest of the world. That is the reason why Microsoft has launched its second video gaming console by the name of Xbox360. It was developed in collaboration with IBM, ATI and SIS. The Xbox live allows players to play online and download games. A successor of the Xbox, the Xbox360 has already made its mark and is very popular among the video game lovers. It is giving a tough competition to Sony's Play station 3 and the Nintendo Wii. It was officially announced in 2005 and since then is gaining popularity. The Xbox 360 is available in three standard variants; the "Xbox 360 Arcade", the "Xbox 360", and the "Xbox 360 Elite". During its launch, the Xbox 360 was available in two configurations: the "Xbox 360" and the "Xbox 360 Core." The Elite package was launched later the "Xbox 360 Arcade" replaced the "Xbox 360 Core" in October 2007.

More flash, more screens and more oomph ahead

You don't need to be a techno-geek to realize computers have morphed into a digital Swiss Army knife over the past decade or so.

Today, we turn to our computers not just for work (productivity programs including word processors and spreadsheet makers) but also for both business and leisure communication (email, instant messaging, social networking and video chats), entertainment (music, photos, videos and games), information (web surfing, online dictionaries and encyclopedias) and shopping (as more Canadians rely on cyberspace to buy goods on eBay or craigslist.org).

And thanks to more selection, aggressive pricing and integrated wireless technology, laptop sales have eclipsed desktop sales; today there is little trade-off between mobility and performance.

It culminated this summer in a three-month trial featuring more than 100 witnesses, some of whom have since assumed new identities out of fear of retribution for testifying against four members of the Washington Nomads Chapter of the Hells Angels.

Last month former Hells Angel Rodney Rollness of Snohomish was sentenced to life in prison for Walsh's murder. Joshua Binder of North Bend, also a former Hells Angel, pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges for his involvement in the shooting. He is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

Rollness, 46, denied gunning down Walsh. At sentencing, he denounced his trial as a sham choreographed by crooked cops who have been gunning for him for years. He vowed to clear his name on appeal.

A jury found Rollness guilty of a dozen crimes, including a murder in support of racketeering.

New Gladewater police cameras approved

Gladewater police soon will get relief from a year-long headache from faulty patrol car cameras.

The Gladewater City Council agreed this week to purchase eight new digital cameras, costing a total of about $42,000. The cameras, expected to arrive within the next few weeks, replace cameras the police department purchased about two years ago.

More than a year ago, the cameras began malfunctioning, randomly deleting recordings, Gladewater Police Chief Farrell Alexander said. On a handful of occasions the Gladewater Police Department had to drop charges because there was no video.

"That's happened," he said. "It's not been prevalent because a lot of cases don't absolutely require video."

However, by law police must have video cameras in patrol cars, the chief explained.

Telecom, remystified

Quick: Name a consumer offering, besides gasoline, that has been getting more expensive, not less. It's not food or clothing or electronics or anything sold at Wal-Mart. But take a look at your cable TV bill. Odds are high that the channels you subscribe to cost considerably more than five or 10 years ago. In fact, the price of cable has risen by nearly 70 percent over the past 10 years, nearly twice the rate of inflation.
